West Noble Nation!
Please join us in congratulating longtime Eastside coach and athletic director, Aaron Willard, who was presented with the Northeast Corner Conference's Lifetime Achievement Award this evening.
Willard spent over three decades serving Eastside in several coaching capacities as well as running its athletic department. Willard recently was honored with the naming of the Aaron Willard Student Activities Center on the campus of Eastside High School. The Eastside graduate was a state champion softball coach and also guided its baseball program to a state finals appearance.
Willard was presented with a commemorative trophy by West Noble athletic director, Tom Schermerhorn, and was joined at midcourt by current Eastside athletic director, Brennen Kitchen.
Congratulations to Willard for all he has committed to education-based athletics!

A reminder to our West Noble families:
We are into a very busy month of testing, which will continue into the spring as well. We would like to encourage our families to remind our kids (and ourselves) to make sure we are getting plenty of sleep at night, a nutritious breakfast and lunch, and finding ways to relax and recharge during this testing phase.
If you need help with nutrition needs, please contact your school principal or your guidance counselors. We want our kids to be at their best for testing, and continue to learn and grow at West Noble.

Just a reminder, this week is the NECC Girls and Boys Basketball tournaments. West Noble hosts Eastside in the opening round, the girls tipping off at 6 p.m. with the boys to follow. A win lands the Chargers into the semi-finals on Friday, a loss to the consolations on Thursday. The championships for both tournaments will be held at West Noble Saturday evening.
See you there!

Charger Check-in:
A slow start back to the grind as the second semester began this past week at West Noble.
We did usher in the start of the high school gymnastics season Tuesday in Kendallville, and West Noble wrestling held its annual Super Duals. Among the Duals on Saturday was the fundraiser for the Zayago family, by all accounts a very successful event to help ease the burden of a recent loss within the family.
Thank you to all who helped with the fundraiser, and all those who contributed!

Big News from the Plymouth Girls Wrestling Regional!
West Noble senior 170-pounder Destiny Martinez has qualified for the IHSAA State Finals, finishing as runner-up in her bracket. Martinez won her first two matches via pin to punch her ticket to next weekend's finals, then won the semi-final also via pin. In the championship match, Martinez and Crown Point's Jayda Miller battled into the third round before the Crown Point sophomore scored a pin with 35 seconds left in the match.
The Lady Chargers had three others in the regional, both Kara Arnold at 105 and Beyonce Marmolejo at 190 falling in the first round. Brynn Weigold won her first match at 235, but couldn't get past Penn in the ticket round, also seeing her season come to an end.
Martinez advances to the IHSAA Girls Wrestling State Finals, to take place Friday, Jan. 16, at Corteva Coliseum on the campus of the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center.
Way to go, Destiny! Finish the job!

First official event on campus for the new year, and it was a good result for the host Chargers!
The boys basketball program took care of business to earn its second Northeast Corner Conference victory, running away from Eastside, 54-35. The junior varsity also ended on the plus side of Eastside for the twinbill sweep.
The win in the varsity contest could bode well for the Chargers in futures, as West Noble hosts Eastside on Jan. 14 in the first round of the NECC tourney. Still a lot of work to do between now and then, but for tonight, good win. Good start to the new year!
