A Message From Principal Amanda Nine

Dear Students and Parents,

It is my privilege to welcome you back for the 2024-2025 school year. If you have driven past the school recently, you have probably noticed that we have been busy over the summer with construction. We have also been preparing to welcome students back to classes.

Mr. Reyes, our new assistant principal, started in July. He is a 2013 graduate of West Noble, and both Mr. Wilson and I have been very happy to have him on our team.

We cannot wait for our students to meet him. We also have a few new teachers: Miss Hosford (English), Mr. Truex (Industrial Arts), and Mrs. Clouse (Special Education). In our guidance department, we have a new secretary, Miss Fulkerson, and in our applied skills classroom, we have a new assistant, Miss Araiza-Alba. This is a great group with diverse experiences, and we consider ourselves very lucky to have them at West Noble.

Senior Meeting
Senior students and parents have a meeting tonight, Tuesday, Aug. 13, at 6 p.m. in the blue seats. Mrs. Brown and our guidance department have put together a presentation on important information and dates for seniors this year. We hope to see you there.

Back to School Night
Wednesday evening, the 14th, from 6-8 p.m. is the WNHS Back to School event. This is for students in all grades, but it is especially a great opportunity for freshmen to walk their schedule, try their locker, and meet their teachers. There will be a freshman parent meeting in the blue seats near the main office at 7 p.m. If you need to meet with a counselor or administrator about a specific issue, please set up a meeting outside of this open house. Counselors and administrators will be greeting freshmen at this event. Please remember, the deadline for schedule changes has passed.

First Day
Thursday, the 15th, is the first day of school! The schedule remains the same this year. School starts at 8:30 a.m., and students are released at 3:20 p.m. The schedule, rules, and procedures can be found in the student handbook online. Please review this with your child and refer to this for questions throughout the year. We have one new rule: all cell phones must be stored in student lockers during class time. This is not a change to the rule on usage; cell phone usage has never been allowed in class. This is only a change in where students must store their phones. Cell phones are still allowed during passing periods and lunch. Additionally, students who have earned UT may use their phones during UT. If you have an emergency and need to get in contact with your child, call the office at extension 3000.

Parking/Construction
All student drivers must purchase a new parking pass for the 2024-25 school year. Parking passes will be sold at our Back to School Night event. Students can also purchase them at any time from our attendance office. Parking passes cost $3, and students need their driver’s license and license plate number at the time of purchase.

Due to construction, there will be no parking outside the main gym/gymnastics complex or near the bus garage at the bottom of the football field. All students must park in the student lot outside our main doors, #22, until further notice. Parking passes for current drivers must be purchased by September 3rd.

Morning drop-off remains the same. Students enter our main doors, #22. After school, buses will still be picking students up outside the main gym along the sidewalk. That parking lot is now a fenced off construction area, and students will be reminded to be respectful of the construction zone and workers. Students will exit the front doors, #22, or the the doors near the social studies hallway, #11 if they ride a bus.

In Conclusion
I have always loved the first day of school, and I hope you know how much it means to us that we are entrusted with your children throughout the school day. This is my 25th year in education, and I still love working with students, especially at West Noble. Mr. Wilson, Mr. Reyes, and I have spent time this summer on making things as smooth as possible for our students, and I hope they notice this as they begin the new year.

Please reach out to us at any time with questions or concerns throughout the year, and encourage your child to do the same. Under “WNHS Links” on our website, there is a link titled “Reporting or Requesting Appointments.” You or your child can use this to report a concern or request an appointment with an administrator or guidance counselor at any time. QR codes for this are also posted around the school.

Sincerely,
Amanda Nine, Principal
